How your Dreams Unfold

How Your Dreams Unfold

Yesterday morning as I was walking out of the gym after my exercise class I saw the sun rising through the clouds and I had an amazing moment. I envisioned my life as a piece of beautiful origami, folded up in so many ways at the beginning. Each day in your life a piece unfolds and you see a bit more of your path and how to get there. Sometimes you end up in the creases when things are challenging and it's difficult to see how to get to the next fold to create what you'd like.

As I walked towards my car yesterday morning I felt like I was beginning to see the patterns, beginning to see the next fold in the colorful masterpiece of life. I thought about so many things in a few minutes on the way home. I pictured the weekends during college that I worked at a drycleaner/laundromat and learned how to help customers with all kinds of problems and deal with them gracefully, I pictured all of the parties I have organized and the menus I have created, I saw all of the time I spent with my English as a Second Language students developing materials for them and organizing activities and making sure paperwork was in on time. I saw all of the practice I have done baking and cooking. For me all of these life experiences have prepared me for the moments coming very soon. The moment that I partner with a lovely local coffee shop, Murray's Coffee Bar to offer pastries, breakfast, lunch and brunch.

When I was a little girl I was so fortunate that my dad built me a playhouse out of a very large wooden crate. It had windows and a door that would close. I had my play kitchen in there and out in the yard nearby was an old sink that was no longer in use. I used to pretend that it was my restaurant. I made "pizzas" with sawdust from my dad's wood workshop as the "dough" and leaves from woodland plants as the "pepperoni." I had found some large metal lids that were my pizza pans. At the time it felt so real for me. Now I see that even then I was preparing for my dream even though it just felt like playing at the time.

I am so excited that all of these folds in the origami in my life are unfolding in a beautiful way so that I can work in a location here in Beaverton, Oregon and offer local people lots of delicious pastries and food. I have been training for this moment for a long time and I am so grateful that I have been given an opportunity to partner with such a special coffee shop. I'll keep you posted on my start date at Murray's Coffee Bar so that you can stop by for some amazing coffee and food.

I would love to hear about the folds and creases of your life's origami and where the path is leading you today. Please share with me by email or in the comments section below.
